The trial comes first

A bridal trial is a working appointment, not a preview. You bring the dress photos, the veil or headpiece if you have one, and an idea of the look — and we build it together, testing what holds in real time. It’s also where honest decisions get made: whether an up-do or a down style will survive your schedule, your venue, and the weather.

The trial is when you should say the quiet thing out loud — “I usually wear it down” or “it frizzes by 6pm.” We’d rather know at the trial than discover it on the morning of.

Up-do vs. down: how to choose

The right answer usually comes down to logistics more than pictures:

• Up-do. Survives humidity, a veil, hours of dancing, and a long day. The safer choice for most outdoor or full-day weddings.
• Down or half-down. Softer and more “you,” but it’s asking more of the weather and the schedule. In a January-to-April Florida season, a down style needs a plan for how it holds through the day.

Most brides land somewhere between — a low, soft up-do or a half-up that keeps the face clear while keeping some length. The trial is where we find that middle.

Timing: how far ahead to book

For a spring wedding, book your trial two to three months out, and your day-of appointment as soon as the date is set. Season slots go first — January through April is the busiest stretch on the calendar, and Saturdays disappear well ahead of the date. Day-of, budget more time than you think: hair is done before makeup finishes, and a relaxed chair beats a rushed one every time.
